Focusing on manufacturing quality, they have a Chromoly + steel spindle with double sealed bearings, an alloy body for the strength and fluidity. The easy tension adjustment (from 6 to 14) allows you to gain confidence at first, and to adjust the tension accordingly once you feel more confident with clip-ins. Shimano's SPD standard platform is compatible with most cycling shoes on the market.
